Today, Lieutenant General / Kamel Al-Wazir - Minister of Transport, in the presence of Ambassador / Mariam Al-Kaabi, Ambassador of the United Arab Emirates to Egypt, witnessed the initialing of the final contract for the management, operation, maintenance and re-delivery of the superstructure of the multi-purpose terminal in the Safaga sea port, between the General Authority of Red Sea Ports and the Ports Group Alliance Abu Dhabi, a subsidiary of Abu Dhabi Holding Company.

Whereas, the contract was signed by Rear Admiral / Osama Saleh, Vice Chairman of the Board of Directors of the General Authority for Red Sea Ports, and Captain / Mohamed Al Shamsi, CEO of Abu Dhabi Ports Group.

The Minister of Transport confirmed that this contract comes as a start for activating the great cooperation plan between the Egyptian Ministry of Transport and the Abu Dhabi Ports Group to establish a number of projects related to the logistics services sector in Egypt, and the multi-purpose terminal project in Safaga Port is considered.

He mentioned that it is one of the most important national projects due to its strategic location on the Red Sea on an area of 81 hectares, a length of berths of 1000 meters, and a depth of 17 meters for the handling of containers and all kinds of general goods and dry and liquid bulk.

He pointed out that it is considered the main gateway for the development of the Upper Egypt region, especially the development of the economic zone of the Golden Triangle, where the station was planned to serve all the mining activities of the Golden Triangle.

He pointed out that the signing of the conditions agreement between the General Authority for Red Sea Ports and the Abu Dhabi Ports Group regarding cooperation in the field of developing, managing and operating berths and stations for cruise ships in the ports of Sharm el-Sheikh and Hurghada, providing services related to the work of cruise ships, as well as providing equipment and developing management and operation systems and cooperation to allow them to compete. With other global ports in the field of tourism and increase competitiveness with these ports.

He stressed that the goal is to attract the largest possible number of tourists, especially since Abu Dhabi Ports is a company specialized in operating ports and cruise ship terminals and providing marine services, and has great experience in cruise ship business.

He pointed out that a terms and conditions agreement was signed between the General Authority for Red Sea Ports and the Abu Dhabi Ports Group regarding cooperation in the field of developing, managing and operating berths and terminals for cruise ships, a tourist passenger terminal, a car terminal and a bulk terminal in Sokhna port.

He pointed out that a memorandum of understanding was signed for the establishment, management, operation, maintenance and re-delivery of the superstructure of a multi-purpose terminal in East Port Said Port, as well as a logistic and industrial zone.

The Minister of Transport confirmed that licensing contracts for the construction of cement silos in the ports of Arish and West Port Said were signed between the economic zone and Trans Cargo International.
During the signing activities, the minister confirmed that these contracts and agreements come within the framework of the directives of President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi, President of the Republic.

He pointed out the need to expand partnership with the local and international private sector and within the framework of implementing the President's directives to make Egypt a global center of trade and logistics.

He mentioned with the embodiment of the strong relationship between the two peoples and the political leadership in the two brotherly countries, and that today marks the beginning of a major breakthrough for joint cooperation between the Egyptian Ministry of Transport and the Abu Dhabi Ports Group.

He pointed to the success of the Ministry of Transport in attracting the attention of international shipping lines as well as international operators to work inside Egypt, such as CMA in the port of Alexandria.

He mentioned, as well as the EuroJet line, Hapag Lloyd and Conship in the port of Damietta, as well as Hutchison in the ports of Alexandria and Sokhna, and today the ports of Abu Dhabi in Safaga, Hurghada and Sharm El-Sheikh, which contributes to competitiveness in performance and provision of services with existing stations, which benefits the Egyptian consumer and facilitates the export of products And it creates multiple job opportunities in all aspects of the country, which will have the greatest impact on the national economy and development.

He pointed out that the establishment and development of maritime transport projects is carried out entirely by Egyptian consulting offices and national Egyptian companies, such as: projects to develop ports and establish stations and berths therein.

He pointed out that this is what is currently happening in the ports of: Alexandria, Dekheila, Damietta, Safaga, Ain Sukhna, Jargoub and Berenice, while preserving ownership of the infrastructure and assets, including facilities, berths, stations and mobile unit equipment, and that contracting with global alliances of operators and shipping lines to manage And operating the stations for a specified period and re-delivering them to the Egyptian port authorities
The minister also made it clear that these new projects are taking place within the framework of the new republic, the foundations of which were established by His Excellency President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi, President of the Republic, indicating that today's signing takes place at the headquarters of the Ministry of Transport in the new administrative capital, which is the title of the new republic, pointing out that the means of transportation are the arteries of development, as they are the ones that Linking sea and dry ports, logistical areas, places and areas of agriculture and industry, referring to the current modernization and development of 10,000 km of existing railways and the establishment of the fast electric train network, which represents a locomotive for development, which will contribute to the transportation of goods between sea ports on Bahrain and the Mediterranean, and serving the industrial, tourism and agricultural areas, referring to the development The largest in all Egyptian ports, such as Sokhna, Safaga, Alexandria, Damietta, and others, in order to make Egypt a global center of trade and logistics, in implementation of the directives of the political leadership, in addition to making Egyptian ports smart green ports.
For his part, Mohamed El Shamsy, CEO of Abu Dhabi Ports Group, affirmed this great cooperation between the Egyptian Ministry of Transport and Abu Dhabi Ports Group, praising the great development that Egypt is witnessing in all fields, including the transport sector and the great development in the field of sea ports, pointing out that Egypt enjoys a unique geographical location that serves traffic International trade between East and West, and Egypt has enormous tourism potential and has a variety of tourist destinations
